New Matif Mark/Paris Option Attracts Good Initial Volume

The new mark/Paris options contract on the Matif, the French financial futures exchange, has attracted an average of 1200 contracts a day in trading volume since its launch on 23 October, according to exchange officials. However, says a spokesperson, volume has been extremely irregular, ranging from 4,500 contracts on one particularly active day to no contracts on other days.

The mark/Paris option is the fifth currency options launched by the Matif, which started in May, 1994 with two contracts
