Chicago Mercantile Exchange offers retail access to futures trading via MetaTrader 5
Margin forex trading platform vendor MetaQuotes Software has gained approval from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) to enable trading of CME futures products over its trading platform, MetaTrader 5.
The move extends the platform's footprint beyond margin foreign exchange to exchanges, having established connectivity to the Moscow Exchange earlier this year. MetaQuote says that as of February, two unnamed brokers have gone live with trading on the exchange via the MetaTrader 5 platform.
MetaQuote says in a statement that the trading platform connects to the CME via a customised gateway that ensures correct handling of market data, trading operations and the ability to generate reports as required by the CME.
It says it will now target brokerage companies that are members of the CME. "Realising that the launch of a new platform can be quite challenging for a broker, we proactively offer our assistance and support to stock market participants," says Gaies Chreis, chief operating officer of MetaQuotes Software in Limassol.
Officials add that the platform plans to be live with connectivity to Turkdex and Warsaw Stock Exchange on MetaTrader 5 by May.
