Uncertainty clouds US rate outlook

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Federal Reserve is unlikely to raise US interest rates until Q3, analysts told FX Week, following the Federal Open Market Committee’s (FOMC) decision to hold rates at 1.75% last Tuesday (May 7).

In a statement made public after the meeting, policymakers cited an "uncertain" outlook, and said risks remained balanced between inflation and recession.

"For the Fed to change rates they’d need to be sure the recovery in the US was picking up again," said one London-based FX trader
