Speculation over ECB top job

FRANKFURT -- With the euro once again threatening to visit new lows, forex market observers were last week speculating on the possible departure of European Central Bank president Wim Duisenberg.

"If Greenspan was in charge, the euro would not be in this mess." That was the verdict of one London-based trader on Duisenberg’s tenure in charge of the ECB.

Speculation was prompted by a German press report that Luxembourg prime minister Jean-Claude Juncker could take the reins at the ECB in Frankfurt -
